Coccidiosis is a major parasitic disease of poultry and is estimated to cost the poultry industry greater than $3 billion annually in lost production. Coccidiosis is most commonly controlled through the use of feed additive anticoccidials.

In April, 2006 the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) granted to Pfizer Animal Health a product license and manufacturing license for INOVOCOX™, the first in ovo administered vaccine as an aide in prevention of coccidiosis in broiler chickens. INOVOCOX provides an innovative, effective and convenient means to the broiler producer for prevention of coccidiosis. INOVOCOX can be easily integrated into current vaccination programs and practices and can be used as a year-round product or as part of a strategic coccidiosis control rotation program.

INOVOCOX vaccine contains highly immunogenic, anticoccidial sensitive sporulated oocysts of Eimeria acervulina, two strains of Eimeria maxima and Eimeria tenella. Two strains of Eimeria maxima were selected for their ability to elicit a solid immune response against the Eimeria maxima strains found on poultry farms. In ovo injection of INOVOCOX with the Embrex® INOVOJECT® System has demonstrated strong immunity in the broiler flock. The precision with which INOVOCOX vaccine is delivered via the Embrex INOVOJECT System ensures uniformity and efficacy.
