Technology Development

Pfizer Poultry Health Division’s engineering team received national recognition from the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1997 for the Embrex Inovoject System design. This innovative group continues to upgrade the company's platform system, as well as design new ones that will further automate the poultry hatchery. For example, this group has developed the Embrex® Inovoject® Systems Vaccine Saver® option for the Inovoject System. The Vaccine Saver is a patented identification and delivery system which is capable of discriminating viable eggs from unfertilized and early dead eggs. The system is then capable of delivering the therapeutic product selectively to those eggs identified as viable. The Vaccine Saver option is particularly valuable in markets in which vaccines costs are high. Likewise, the group has developed a candler option for the Inovoject system named the Embrex Inovoject Systems Egg Remover®. This device removes unfertilized eggs prior to injection, improving hatch and chick quality, reducing injectable costs per egg, and providing confirmation of hatch and bird placement forecasts.

The Embrex Inovoject systems are protected by many domestic and foreign patents (equipment, compound and method-of-use) that protect key proprietary technologies utilized by these systems. The company continues to upgrade the systems and file for additional patents as new novel technologies are developed.
